Through a grant competition, funds are awarded to institutions of higher education to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education, and facilitate entrance into graduate and professional programs. Student Support Services (SSS) projects also may provide grant aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants. The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants. Our mission is to provide supportive services for low income, first-generation, and students with documented disabilities. Trio is designed to help students overcome environmental, social, cultural, and academic barriers to higher education. We provide our students with resource information, academic instruction, tutoring, assistance in applying for financial aid, community, and support.
