Being a first-generation student means that I am carving a pathway for the next generations of my family to achieve higher education. I am delighted that this role is a part of my identity. Initially, I was wary about the odds of my success in college, but I realized being a first-generation student does not make me less capable of achieving success. There are times when you must be self-reliant and tackle significant challenges, but the feeling of achievement is even more rewarding. As a first-generation student, I have a stronger desire to persevere, and I will make my aspirations become a reality.
