As a First-Generation student, I never imagined that I would be able to attend a 4-year institution, nonetheless an SEC school, such as Mississippi State. Coming in, I knew I wasn’t just getting this degree for myself. It is for my mother, who made me into the woman I am today and my little sister, who is now in college herself. Being a Minority and a First-Generation student means that I am held at a higher standard than most of my peers and it helps me overcome challenges that will be faced against me.
